- Locatim provides guaranteed protection to newborn calves in a pathogen-filled environment.
- Once ingested, the antibodies in Locatim are absorbed into the layer of mucus which lines the newborn calf’s gut.
- These protective antibodies dispersed across the gut surface form a ‘kill zone’, where invading scour pathogens are neutralized before they can cause tissue damage.

Adult cattle carry scour causing pathogens in their faeces. They avoid disease as they have sufficient specific antibodies in their fully developed immune system.
Problems with calf scour occur when the calf’s immune system is overwhelmed by the number of pathogens in the environment.

Is Locatim safe?
Yes, Locatim is a prescription medicine and as such has been deemed safe for use by the regulatory authorities.
What is the dose of Locatim and how is it administered?
One bottle, 60mls, is administered orally to each newborn calf as soon as possible after birth and before colostrum.
Is Locatim a substitute for colostrum?
No. Colostrum must also be fed to calves. We recommend if possible this is done at least 30 minutes after Locatim.
Can I mix Locatim in with the cow’s colostrum to administer?
We advise that Locatim is given on its own in order not to contaminate the antibodies with environmental bacteria from containers, feeder bags, dirty colostrum etc.
How should I store Locatim?
Locatim must be stored in the fridge between 2 – 8 oC. Antibodies deteriorate with higher temperatures so keep refrigerated until used.
